2.0 out of 5 stars A nice piece of metal--or so I thought, February 27, 2009

This is a nice piece of metal, not a flimsy piece of junk. I use it with the rack for broiling in my toaster oven. I like the depth because it contains lateral splatters. (The exact size is 10 x 6.9 x 1.8 inches deep; the removable rack rests 3/4 of an inch above pan's bottom). It cleans easily, however, it might be a good idea to spray Pam in it before use.

UPDATE, July 2009: After four months of use I notice signs of rusting at the bottom of the pan. If I had used Pam from the very beginning this might not have occurred. Also, I don't know if washing it in the dishwasher might have prompted the rusting. I contacted the Chicago Metallic Company. Here is what they told me:

"While there are consumer pans that bear the brand name 'Chicago Metallic' there is only one Chicago Metallic that carries the Bundy Eagle and offers pans that are made exclusively in the USA. Our pans represent the industry's highest standards for quality, service and durability and we are... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A great fit for countertop ovens, September 7, 2008
By

This review is from: Chicago Metallic 26639 Nonstick Petite Broil & Roast Pan (Kitchen)
I have a countertop microwave convection oven, and this item is a great fit. THE PAN: While the pan was designed to catch any juices/excess oil from roasting, the pan may be used on its own as it is deep enough for making oven fries, roasting vegetables, making lasagna. THE RACK: The rack can fit one medium sized chicken, or two cornish hens side by side. The height of the rack is just right; it is high enough to let the hot air circulate underneath the item being cooked (e.g. reheating slices of pizza or deep fried foods), but it still has some clearance below the flange of the outer pan to minimize spatters outside the pan. I'm very happy with this item.

I have spent a really long time looking for a decent pan for my Cuisinart Convection Oven. They were either too big or too small or too flimsy. I trust the Chicago Metallic quality, having many of their oven pans purchased from high end gourmet retailers. This two piece set includes a multi-use grill. The pan is a good heavyweight; the non-stick finish is sturdy (unless you take a knife to it, why would you do that?) and easy to clean. Highly recommend this set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific toaster oven!, August 7, 2011

This review is from: Oster TSSTTVXLDG Extra Large Digital Toaster Oven, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
This oven is wonderful to use. Simple to operate, stays true to temp.

I've made chicken, cookies, fresh peach pie(gorgeous crust with the convection), garlic toast and steak in this thing, all with excellent results. The size is magnificent for a toaster oven. I baked two pans of cookies at the same time.

I can fit two bread loaf pans(9 by 5), with the top rack removed. I can fit two 9 by 13 pyrex cake pans in, as well. If you're looking for space for lots of cooking options, this one is worth a look. Works like a charm.

Just wanted to add: this oven makes an excellent dough-proofer. Hit the 'warm' button and let it heat up a few moments, turn it off, and pop in your bowl of dough. My BIG kitchen aid 6 qt mixing bowl fits in this oven...wow..that surprised me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Toaster Over EVER, November 21, 2011
By
This review is from: Oster TSSTTVXLDG Extra Large Digital Toaster Oven, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I bought this from Wal-Mart over a year ago and my family of five keeps in running for two hours or more each night baking pizza, pot pies etc... It's really large and holds full size pizzas. You can bake so many things in this oven and safe the heat and electric cost of running the big oven. Never had a problem with it. Would buy it again if this one ever dies.

3.0 out of 5 stars A time and energy saver at a great price - let's see how long it lasts, April 17, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Oster TSSTTVXLDG Extra Large Digital Toaster Oven, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I bought this countertop oven because my 3 daughters (2 in college; 1 in high school) come home hungry and use my large wall oven to make their meals. In the interest of saving a little energy, I searched for a toaster oven. This one meets all of my criteria. It's large enough to hold regular-sized pans, and it has a convection feature to shorten cooking time and/or lower oven temp.

To give an example, today my daughter baked chicken that would normally bake for 30 minutes in a 350-degree oven. In this Oster toaster oven, using the convection bake feature, she was able to bake it for 25 minutes at 300 degrees. Later in the afternoon when I got home from work, I popped some frozen cod in there. The cod normally take 22 minutes to bake at 425 degrees. With the convection feature, they took 14 minutes at 425 degrees. And these shortened cooking times do not take into account the fact that the toaster oven preheats a lot faster than the wall oven, and cools off a lot faster as... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Small enough to fit on a countertop, large enough to be useful, January 6, 2012

Make no mistake, this is no mere toaster oven. It's the first portable oven of the many that I've owned that is actually large enough to do some serious cooking. The two included removable racks allow you the versatility of baking on two levels simultaneously or of accommodating a taller cooking vessel on a single level. The usable interior space measures 8.5" high, 13" deep and 13.75" wide and will fit two 13" round pizza stones or two 9" x 13" baking dishes. Just be sure that the baking dishes don't have handles which might put them over the limit.

It shipped with rotisserie equipment, two metal shelf racks, one large enameled metal baking pan and one smaller aluminum broiler or baking pan with a rack that fits inside. The enameled pan is a shelf unto itself and it fits into the rack slots whereas the smaller pan sits on one of the supplied shelf racks. You may never need anything else but if you do, Amazon sells many other accessories which will fit the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Super for outdoors!, September 20, 2011
This review is from: Hamilton Beach Countertop Oven with Convection and Rotisserie (Kitchen)
I bought this to go in the garage so that I could get the cooking heat out of the kitchen. So far I've done quickie dinners like chicken strips and frozen pizza but I have also done cornish game hens using the rotisserie feature as well as homemade bannana bread, pigsnblankets, baked fish and augrautin potatos. It's done a great job at everything. I chose this oven because it was the only one with rotisserie and the ability to fit a 9x13 casserole (actually it holds two!) and should come in handy for Thanksgiving and the like. I will point out that casserole dishes with handles or grab sides will not fit, so don't be disappointed when your go-to pyrex dishes with handles won't fit.

If your plan is to use this inside your house to keep from having to fire up your full size oven then I would discourage you from getting this because I think this oven will heat up the house just as much and take up a ton of space. If you plan on keeping it in the garage or a covered... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Thermostat is sloppy, May 26, 2012
By
This review is from: Hamilton Beach Countertop Oven with Convection and Rotisserie (Kitchen)
For the cost of this oven, it is OK. Nothing special. There are some things this oven does well, but to excel at baking is not one of them. For reheats and those things that are not critical, it does the job. Two things that bring it down for us. The main thing is how sloppy the thermostat is. When placed on just "bake" with out the use of the convection fan, the temperature is where it should be, but only after I calibrated it. It was found to be 25 degrees high. But when used with the convection fan, the temperature can go as high as 60 degrees over from what the thermostat is set for.
I have many years behind me repairing appliances. Have calibrated more ovens then I can count. I had to calibrate this oven and it was then when I found the difference between convection and normal bake. I knew from the results of what we cooked that the two were not even close. While I was able to calibrate for ether convection use or normal, there was no way I could do both. Convection ovens... Read more
