My favorite was when Oster came out with the 3-dial model where you could choose the temp, type, & time, and auto shut off which was a great selling point for me. When my most recent one finally wore out I purchased this one because it not only had all these features, but it's a convection oven also!I LOVE IT!! It bakes potatoes, cookies, broils fish, and has done a host of other things beautifully. I use it every day. The only thing I don't use it for is toast. By now I would think that people would realize that toaster ovens are just small ovens. You don't make toast in an oven so why try to make it in a toaster oven? NO toaster ovens make toast very well, and those that sort of toast bread only do it half way and it takes forever. I use a regular toaster for toasting bread. It is a nice size for my countertop. Not overly large but still big enough to bake and broil many foods.Truthfully, I have only tried making toast in this oven once, because I didn't buy it for that. It toasted bread just fine, but that is what I have a toaster for. I have always considered a toaster oven to be a small oven and broiler. It preheats quickly and cooks more evenly than my full-size oven. This little appliance is just perfect for my husband and me. I can put a small casserole dish in it, bake or reheat biscuits, cook frozen stuffed chicken breasts, cook a small personal pizza, bake two crocks of french onion soup, bake just the right amount of frozen french fries, make a few hors d'oeuvres, and bake some fish sticks for the grandkids. An older Black and Decker version we loved finally gave in and I purchased this one after reading one positive review. I absolutely hate this oven. The timer slips and stops clicking but does not turn the over off. It is a fire hazard. A few times the oven kept toasting and I finally noticed the smoke and burning smell. I usually use the "light" or "medium" setting but one of us has to literally stand next to the oven while toasting to manually turn it off. I wish I returned it right away. |
